France: International students made up half of France’s new immigrants in 2025

France saw a continued rise in immigration in 2025, with nearly 380,000 non-EU nationals receiving their first residence permit, an increase of almost 11% over 2024. The number of foreign residents in France now stands at 5 million, mainly from the Maghreb, followed by Turkey, the UK, China, and Ivory Coast.

Jordan: Jordan records record breaking number of international students

The number of international higher education students has seen a “steady rise” over the past six years, and the number of newly admitted students has doubled over the past five years.

Canada: Canada issues advisory for international students on visa scams

Canada has cautioned international students to understand the study permit process carefully and remain alert to immigration fraud, warning that false or misleading information can lead to visa refusal and entry bans of up to five years. IRCC said a study permit, which costs CAN$150, allows international students to study in Canada, but applicants remain responsible for all information submitted, even if they use an agent or representative.

UK: New data releases from UCAS and HESA

While HESA data tells us about past academic years, figures from UCAS’s January deadline are the first good look we get at the upcoming entry cycle. The overall trend was a 1% increase in international applicants, up from 2.7% at the same point in 2025. This brought the total to a record 124,830, an increase of slightly over 6,000 applicants compared to last year.
