New Zealand: Study visa applications to NZ dip, approval rate jumps nearly 7%

International study visa applications to New Zealand fell 5.3% in 2025, while approval rates rose 6.7% year-on-year. The country is looking to boost international student enrolments from 83,700 to 119,000 by 2034 and double the sector’s value to NZD$7.2 billion (GBP £3.2bn) under the recently launched International Education Going for Growth plan.
